Deputy Headteacher Emily Sowinski
A message from Miss Sowinski:
Hello! I’m Miss Sowinski, and I’m proud to be the Deputy Headteacher here at St John’s. I’m passionate about giving every child the best possible start in a nurturing, safe and supportive environment where they can thrive both academically and personally.
I hold a degree in Early Years Education and went on to complete a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) with Qualified Teacher Status. During my career, I’ve taught across the primary range—from Early Years to Key Stage 2—giving me a strong understanding of how children learn and develop throughout their primary years.
As Deputy Headteacher, I help shape the school’s strategic direction and support high standards in teaching and learning. I work closely with staff across the school—leading on curriculum development, supporting subject leaders and providing coaching and mentoring. I’m also the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring our safeguarding policies are robust and consistently followed so every child feels safe, supported and valued.
Outside of St John’s, I’ve been a governor at another Lincolnshire primary school for the past five years, where I chair the Achievement and Quality of Teaching Committee.
I’m a firm believer in collaboration and work closely with colleagues to build a culture of continuous improvement. I lead with openness, honesty, kindness and compassion—values that guide both my teaching and leadership.
I also place great importance on maintaining a healthy work-life balance for all staff. I aim to create an environment where everyone feels supported, empowered and motivated, knowing that a balanced and respectful approach helps everyone thrive.
If we haven’t yet had the chance to meet, I look forward to doing so soon. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or if I can support your child’s learning in any way.
